OVERVIEW
Frameless shower glass in Dubai is the premium way to enclose a shower: thick toughened glass, 10mm or 12mm, held only by discreet hinges, clamps and wall channels, with no aluminium frame around the panels. Vision Three designs, supplies and installs frameless shower doors, fixed panels and complete enclosures for apartments, villas, hotels and offices across Dubai, each cut to the millimetre once your tiles are finished.
With no frame to hide behind, a frameless enclosure puts every detail on show. The glass edge polish, the hinge alignment, the gap at the door and the silicone line along the wall all have to be right, because there is nothing to cover a mistake. It also means the glass carries its own weight and the weight of the door, so thickness, hinge rating and wall fixing matter far more than they do with a framed unit. This is where an experienced installer earns the price difference.
We have renovated bathrooms in Dubai since 2008, so we check what the glass will be fixed to before we order it: wall plumb, floor fall, waterproofing and backing. This page explains how frameless enclosures work, the layouts and hardware we use, real AED prices and the mistakes to avoid. If you want to compare every option first, see our overview of shower glass enclosures in Dubai, or look at our simpler fixed shower glass partitions.
10mm glass weighs about 25kg per square metre, 12mm about 30kg. We rate hinges and fixings to the real door weight.
SS304 stainless as standard and marine-grade SS316 for Palm, Marina and beachfront homes where salt air attacks lesser fittings.
Every panel carries a visible safety mark. Holes, notches and hinge cut-outs are made before toughening, never after.

FRAMELESS LAYOUTS
Frameless is a construction method, not one product. These are the six layouts we fit most often and what each is best at.
The classic frameless layout: a hinged door beside a fixed panel in 10mm glass, with wall hinges and a wall channel. The best balance of look, containment and cost.
Two glass sides meeting at a corner with a hinged door, joined with glass-to-glass clamps. Ideal for square trays against two walls.
A door and fixed panel in one straight line across an alcove, fixed to both side walls. The simplest and most economical frameless enclosure.
A main panel and door plus a short return at right angles to catch spray from rain heads and wide trays.
A fixed or hinged frameless panel on the bath rim, in 8–10mm glass, replacing a curtain with a clean, open look.
Glass running to the ceiling for steam control and a built-in look, in 10–12mm glass with a ceiling channel or sealed upstand.
Compare our hinged, pivot and bi-fold shower glass doors, space-saving sliding shower glass doors and doorless walk-in shower glass enclosures.
WHY VISION THREE
Frameless glass is only as stable as what it is fixed to. We confirm plumb, backing and waterproofing before we order.
Final measurements are taken on finished surfaces with a laser level, to within 1mm, so doors close cleanly.
Hinge type and rating are chosen from the actual glass weight and door width, not guessed from a catalogue.
Neutral-cure, anti-fungal sanitary silicone as standard, so marble and stone are never stained by acetoxy silicone.
We can correct floor falls, tiling and drainage through our tile fixing and MEP teams first.
Glass, thickness, hardware finish, coating and installation are itemised so you can compare quotes like for like.
HOW IT WORKS
We check wall plumb and floor fall with a laser level, confirm the walls can carry the fixings and advise on layout, door swing and glass thickness.
You choose layout, 10mm or 12mm glass, clear or low-iron, coating and hardware finish. An itemised quotation follows, usually within 24 hours.
Once tiles and grout are done we take final measurements. Glass is cut, edge-polished, drilled and notched for hinges, then toughened. Typically 5–10 working days.
We fix the channels and hinges, hang the door, and adjust the clearances so it closes cleanly. Most frameless enclosures are fitted in a half to full day.
Joints are sealed with sanitary silicone and left to cure for 24 hours. We water-test the enclosure, check the door action and show you the cleaning routine.
ENGINEERING GUIDE
Frameless doors hang from their hinges, so thickness, weight and width are linked. A wider door is heavier and puts more load on the hinge side wall. The figures below are typical working guidance; hinge ratings differ by manufacturer, and we confirm the exact specification on site.
| Glass thickness | Approx. weight | Typical use | Typical door width |
|---|---|---|---|
| 8mm | About 20kg per m² | Fixed panels and bathtub screens; not usually frameless doors | Fixed panels up to about 800mm |
| 10mm | About 25kg per m² | Standard frameless doors, panels and corner enclosures | Doors up to about 900mm |
| 12mm | About 30kg per m² | Wide doors, tall panels, full-height glass and showpiece bathrooms | Doors up to about 1,000mm |
← Swipe to see full table →
A typical 900mm by 2,000mm door in 10mm glass weighs around 45kg, which is why the hinge side wall needs solid backing rather than gypsum board alone. Where a bathroom needs a wider opening, we split it into a narrower door and a fixed panel rather than hanging an oversized door, which keeps the hinge load and the cost under control.
GLASS, HARDWARE & FINISHES
The glass and the hardware are the product. For fixed panels without a door, see our shower glass partition page.
Our default for frameless doors and panels. Rigid enough to stand with minimal hardware, with a solid, reassuring feel.
Wide doors, tall panels and full-height glass. The most substantial option, reserved for showpiece bathrooms.
Removes the green edge tint of standard glass so white marble and pale tiles read true. Typically adds 20–30% to the glass cost.
Wall-mounted hinges hang a door from the side wall; glass-to-glass hinges join door to panel at 90°, 135° or 180°.
Floor-and-top pivots let a door swing in both directions and suit heavier 12mm doors and wider openings.
A hydrophobic coating that makes water bead and run off, sharply reducing mineral spotting. Recommended on every frameless enclosure.
Hinges, clamps, handles and channels come in polished chrome, brushed nickel, matte black, brushed gold and gunmetal, matched to your taps and mixer. We specify SS304 stainless steel as standard and marine-grade SS316 for coastal homes on Palm Jumeirah, Dubai Marina, JBR, Emaar Beachfront and Bluewaters Island, where salt-laden air can pit lower-grade fittings within a couple of years. The door is sealed with a vertical edge seal, a bottom sweep and, on many layouts, a magnetic seal strip. Where the budget allows, we use hardware from established manufacturers such as dormakaba and Häfele.
WHERE WE WORK
Corner and full-height frameless enclosures in 10–12mm low-iron glass for master bathrooms in Arabian Ranches, Dubai Hills Estate and Emirates Hills, often within a villa renovation.
In-line and corner layouts engineered around tight footprints and building rules in Downtown, JLT, Business Bay and JVC. See our apartment renovation work.
Repeatable frameless specifications across many rooms, with hard-wearing hardware and a quick turnaround per bathroom.
Frameless showers for changing rooms and spa areas that need durable glass, easy cleaning and constant humidity resistance.
PROBLEMS WE SOLVE
Hinges loosen as a heavy door opens thousands of times, or the wall behind them is not solid. We re-set, re-fix or replace the hinges and re-align the door.
Worn seals or a door that is out of adjustment. We replace the edge seal and bottom sweep and re-set the clearances.
Fixing screws working loose or a worn pivot. We tighten, re-fix into solid backing or swap the hinge for a rated replacement.
Old silicone that was never anti-fungal grade. We cut it out completely, clean and dry the joint, then re-seal.
Mineral deposits bonded to uncoated glass. Specialist cleaning recovers mild cases and a protective coating prevents a repeat.
Frameless glass edges are exposed, so a knock can chip them. Toughened glass cannot be repaired, so we re-make and replace the panel.
COST GUIDE 2026
Supplied and installed, frameless shower glass in Dubai typically costs from AED 2,200 for a fixed frameless panel to AED 9,500 or more for a full-height corner enclosure in low-iron glass. A standard frameless door with a fixed panel in 10mm glass usually lands between AED 3,200 and AED 5,500.
Price follows five things: the glass area in square metres, 10mm versus 12mm thickness, clear versus low-iron or decorative glass, the number of hinges, clamps and cut-outs, and the hardware finish. Matte black and brushed gold cost more than chrome, and SS316 costs more than SS304.
Our quotes include survey, fabrication, delivery, installation, silicone sealing and removal of packaging. Removing an existing screen is quoted separately, typically AED 150–350.

COMPARE
What is the difference between frameless and semi-frameless shower glass? Frameless glass is 10–12mm thick and held only by hinges and clamps, with no metal profile around the panels. Semi-frameless uses slimmer 8–10mm glass with a profile on one or two edges. Frameless looks cleaner and is easier to wipe; semi-frameless costs less and is more forgiving of walls that are not square. For doors that slide instead, see our sliding shower glass doors.
| Feature | Frameless | Semi-frameless | Framed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Glass thickness | 10–12mm | 8–10mm | 6–8mm |
| Look | Minimal, almost all glass | Mostly glass, slim profile on edges | Visible aluminium frame all round |
| Hardware | Hinges, clamps, channels | Profile on one or two edges plus hinges | Full perimeter frame and seals |
| Cleaning | Easiest, fewest channels | Easy, a couple of edges to wipe | Frame channels trap grime |
| Out-of-square walls | Needs good walls or correction | More forgiving | Most forgiving |
| Best for | Villa and luxury bathrooms | Most homes and apartments | Rentals and budget upgrades |
| Indicative price (AED) | 2,200–9,500+ | 1,800–4,500 | 1,200–2,200 |

AVOID COSTLY ERRORS
1. Choosing 8mm glass for a frameless door. Thin glass flexes and puts more stress on the hinges. Frameless doors should be 10mm or 12mm toughened glass, with 8mm kept for small fixed panels and bathtub screens.
2. Hanging a hinge on a weak wall. A 900mm by 2,000mm door in 10mm glass weighs about 45kg. Hinges screwed into gypsum board or hollow block without backing can pull loose within months.
3. Measuring before the tiles go on. A 10mm tile on 5mm of adhesive narrows the opening by 30mm across two walls. Glass ordered from drawings or before tiling rarely fits.
4. Ignoring the floor fall. If the shower floor does not fall towards the drain at roughly 1:50 to 1:80, water pools against the glass and finds its way under the seals.
5. Oversizing the door. A very wide door is heavy, hard to swing and needs oversized hinges. A narrower door beside a fixed panel is lighter, cheaper and easier to live with.
6. Drilling or trimming after toughening. Toughened glass cannot be cut, drilled or notched once tempered. Every hinge cut-out and handle hole must be planned before fabrication.

AFTERCARE
Ten seconds removes water before minerals dry on the glass. It is the single most effective habit.
A microfibre cloth and pH-neutral glass cleaner are all you need. Scouring pads and strong acids scratch glass and strip coatings.
Run the extractor during your shower and for 20 minutes afterwards to reduce mould in the silicone joints.
Open and close the door and watch for sagging or a changed gap. Tighten loose fixings gently by hand and call us if the door drops.
Bottom sweeps and edge seals harden in Dubai’s heat. They are inexpensive to replace and stop small drips becoming water damage.
Silicone discolours and loses adhesion. Our home maintenance and handyman teams can renew it in a single visit.
AREAS WE COVER
We survey, fabricate and install frameless shower glass in Dubai across every major community, from beachfront apartments to gated villa estates.
FAQS
Supplied and installed, frameless shower glass in Dubai typically costs AED 2,200–3,800 for a fixed 10mm panel, AED 3,200–5,500 for a hinged door with a fixed panel, and AED 5,500–9,500+ for corner, full-height or low-iron enclosures. The exact price follows a free site survey.
10mm toughened glass is the best all-round choice for frameless shower doors and panels in Dubai. Use 12mm for wide doors, tall panels and full-height glass, and keep 8mm for small fixed panels and bathtub screens only.
Frameless uses 10–12mm glass held only by hinges and clamps, with no metal profile around the panels. Semi-frameless uses 8–10mm glass with a slim profile on one or two edges, usually costs 20–30% less and is more forgiving of walls that are not perfectly square.
Yes. Frameless panels are toughened glass, around four to five times stronger than ordinary annealed glass, and break into small blunt granules rather than sharp shards. Every panel we install carries a visible safety mark, and hinges are rated to the glass weight.
A well-fitted frameless door contains most water, but it relies on seals and correct sizing rather than a frame. With a bottom sweep, edge seals and a floor that falls towards the drain, leaks are rare. A small gap at the door is normal by design.
A 10mm frameless door is typically up to about 900mm wide and a 12mm door up to about 1,000mm, depending on the hinges. For wider openings we use a narrower door beside a fixed panel, which is lighter, cheaper and easier to swing.
SS304 stainless steel is fine for most homes inland. For apartments and villas near the sea, such as Palm Jumeirah, Dubai Marina, JBR and Bluewaters, we recommend marine-grade SS316, which resists pitting from salt-laden air far better.
Installation takes half a day to one day per bathroom. Including the survey, quotation and 5–10 working days of fabrication and toughening, most projects go from first visit to a usable shower in 7–14 days, with 24 hours for silicone to cure.
Small out-of-square errors are handled by templating the glass and adjusting the hinges. If walls are badly out of plumb, we either correct them first or recommend semi-frameless glass, which tolerates more error.
Yes, with an easy-clean hydrophobic coating, a squeegee after each shower and a weekly wipe with a pH-neutral cleaner. Uncoated glass that is regularly left wet gradually bonds with mineral deposits that cannot be fully removed.
Usually yes. A dropped door is most often a loose or worn hinge or a wall fixing that has moved. We re-fix or replace the hinge and re-align the door. A cracked toughened panel cannot be repaired, but we can make a matching replacement.
