OVERVIEW

Doors That Close the Shower and Open the Room

Shower glass doors in Dubai do the job a curtain never could: they close the shower completely, keep steam and spray inside, and let light pass through the whole bathroom. Vision Three designs, supplies and installs hinged, pivot and bi-fold shower glass doors for apartments, villas, hotels and offices across Dubai, in 8mm, 10mm and 12mm toughened glass, each cut to the millimetre once your tiles are finished.

Choosing a door is mostly about space and movement. A hinged door needs room to swing, a pivot door needs room on both sides of its axis, and a bi-fold door trades a narrower opening for almost no swing at all. The wrong choice shows up every day: a door that hits the vanity, a handle that clashes with the towel rail, or a hinge side wall that was never strong enough for the glass. We work out door type, width, swing direction and hinge position on site, before any glass is ordered.

We have renovated bathrooms in Dubai since 2008, so we also check the floor fall, the waterproofing and the wall behind the hinges. This page covers the door types we install, how to size and hang them, real AED prices, mistakes to avoid and how we work. If your bathroom is tight on space, compare our sliding shower glass doors, or see the full range in our overview of shower glass enclosures in Dubai.

Sized to the swing

We map the door swing against your vanity, WC and towel rail before choosing hinged, pivot or bi-fold.

Hinges rated to the glass

A 900mm door in 10mm glass weighs about 45kg. We choose and fix hinges to that real load.

Toughened and marked

Every door carries a visible safety mark. Hinge cut-outs and handle holes are made before toughening, never after.

DOOR TYPES

Shower Glass Door Types We Install in Dubai

Each door type solves a different space problem. These are the six we fit most often and what each is best at.

Single Hinged Door

One toughened door on wall-mounted hinges, opening outwards into the bathroom. The simplest door, ideal for alcove showers up to about 900mm wide.

Hinged Door With Fixed Panel

A hinged door beside a fixed panel, in line or at a corner. The panel adds splash protection and stiffness, and keeps the door itself narrow and light.

Pivot Door

A door hung on top and floor pivots, set at the centre or offset, that can swing both ways. A statement door for wider openings and heavier 10–12mm glass.

Bi-Fold Door

A door that folds in half as it opens, needing only about half the swing space of a hinged door. Useful where a vanity or WC blocks a full swing.

Double (French) Doors

Two hinged doors meeting in the middle for wide openings of about 1,200mm to 1,600mm, each door kept at a manageable width.

Bathtub Door Screen

A hinged or folding glass door on the bath rim, replacing a curtain over a combined bath and shower while keeping the tub accessible.

Do you need a door at all?

If your layout allows, a fixed shower glass partition or a doorless walk-in shower glass enclosure is simpler and cheaper. For the cleanest look in 10–12mm glass, see our frameless shower glass page.

WHY VISION THREE

Why Dubai Homeowners Trust Us With Shower Glass Doors

We map the swing first

Door type is chosen from the real clearances around your vanity, WC and towel rail, not from a catalogue.

Measured after tiling, never before

Final measurements are taken on finished surfaces with a laser level, to within 1mm, so the door closes cleanly.

Hinges rated to the weight

Hinge type and rating are chosen from the actual glass weight and door width.

Silicone that suits natural stone

Neutral-cure, anti-fungal sanitary silicone as standard, so marble and stone are never stained by acetoxy silicone.

Renovation team behind the glass

We can correct floor falls and tiling through our bathroom tiling and MEP teams before the door goes in.

HOW IT WORKS

Our 5-Step Shower Glass Door Installation Process

1

Free Site Survey

We check wall plumb and floor fall with a laser level, test the hinge side wall and map the door swing against everything in the room.

2

Design & Written Quote

You choose the door type, glass thickness, clear or low-iron, handle and hardware finish. An itemised quotation follows, usually within 24 hours.

3

Final Measure & Fabrication

Once tiles and grout are done we take final measurements. Glass is cut, edge-polished, drilled and notched for hinges, then toughened. Typically 5–10 working days.

4

Installation

We fix the channels and hinges, hang the door and adjust the clearances so it opens and closes cleanly. Most doors are fitted in a half to full day.

5

Seal, Test & Handover

Joints are sealed with sanitary silicone and left to cure for 24 hours. We water-test the enclosure, check the door action and show you the cleaning routine.

SWING & SIZE GUIDE

How Much Space Does a Shower Glass Door Need?

Before choosing glass or hardware, check the space the door needs to move. The figures below are typical working guidance, and we confirm every door on site against your actual bathroom.

Door typeTypical door widthSpace needed to openBest for
Single hinged door700–900mmA clear arc about equal to the door width, usually outwardAlcove showers with a clear floor in front

Most shower doors open outwards, because an inward-opening door can trap the person inside the shower and hits the shower head and valve. A pivot door can open both ways, which is useful for wider openings. If your door would hit the WC, vanity or towel rail, a bi-fold door or a sliding door is usually the better answer than moving the fittings.

GLASS, HARDWARE & FINISHES

Choosing Door Glass, Hinges, Handles and Seals

The glass, hinges, handle and seals together decide how a door feels every morning. For the full frameless specification, see our frameless shower glass page.

8mm toughened

Bathtub door screens and smaller doors, including framed and semi-frameless doors. Strong and cost-efficient.

10mm toughened

Our default for frameless hinged and pivot doors up to about 900mm wide. A solid, reassuring feel.

12mm toughened

Wide doors, pivot doors and tall glass. The most substantial option for showpiece bathrooms.

Wall and glass-to-glass hinges

Wall hinges hang a door from the side wall; glass-to-glass hinges join door to panel at 90°, 135° or 180°.

Handles, knobs and towel bars

Pull handles, knobs, bar handles and towel-bar handles in chrome, nickel, black or gold, matched to your taps.

Seals and easy-clean coating

Vertical edge seals, a bottom sweep and, on some doors, a magnetic seal strip. A hydrophobic coating keeps the glass clear.

Hinges, handles and channels come in polished chrome, brushed nickel, matte black, brushed gold and gunmetal. We specify SS304 stainless steel as standard and marine-grade SS316 for coastal homes on Palm Jumeirah, Dubai Marina, JBR, Emaar Beachfront and Bluewaters Island, where salt-laden air can pit lower-grade fittings within a couple of years. Low-iron glass removes the green edge tint of standard glass and typically adds 20–30% to the glass cost. Where the budget allows, we use hardware from established manufacturers such as dormakaba and Häfele.

PROBLEMS WE SOLVE

Common Shower Glass Door Problems in Dubai Bathrooms

Door dropping or scraping the floor

Hinges loosen over thousands of cycles or the wall behind them moved. We re-set, re-fix or replace the hinges and re-align the door.

Water escaping under or beside the door

Worn bottom seals or edge seals. We replace the sweep and seals and re-set the door clearances.

Door that will not close or latch

A door out of alignment or a failed magnetic seal. We adjust the hinges and replace the seal strip.

Loose or wobbling handle

Fixings that have worked loose on a heavy glass door. We re-tighten with the correct washers or replace the handle.

Black mould in the silicone

Old silicone that was never anti-fungal grade. We cut it out completely, clean and dry the joint, then re-seal.

Cracked or chipped door glass

Toughened glass cannot be repaired once damaged, so we template, re-make and replace the door panel.

COST GUIDE 2026

How Much Do Shower Glass Doors Cost in Dubai?

Supplied and installed, shower glass doors in Dubai typically cost from AED 2,200 for a single hinged door to AED 7,500 or more for a pivot, bi-fold or double-door installation in 12mm or low-iron glass. A standard hinged door with a fixed panel in 10mm glass usually lands between AED 3,200 and AED 5,500.

Price follows five things: the glass area in square metres, the thickness, clear versus low-iron or decorative glass, the number of hinges, handles and cut-outs, and the hardware finish. Matte black and brushed gold cost more than chrome, and SS316 costs more than SS304.

Our quotes include survey, fabrication, delivery, installation, silicone sealing and removal of packaging. Removing an existing door or screen is quoted separately, typically AED 150–350.

COMPARE

Hinged vs Pivot vs Bi-Fold vs Sliding Shower Doors

What is the difference between a hinged and a sliding shower door? A hinged door swings on hinges and needs clear floor space to open, while a sliding door glides on a top rail and needs none. Hinged doors give the widest, easiest entry and the cleanest frameless look; sliding doors save space but have a rail to keep clean. Read more on our sliding shower glass doors page.

AVOID COSTLY ERRORS

6 Shower Glass Door Mistakes We See in Dubai Bathrooms

1. Ignoring what the door will hit. A hinged door that clips the vanity, WC or towel rail is a daily annoyance. Map the full swing before choosing a door type, and switch to a bi-fold or sliding door if the space is blocked.

2. Hanging a heavy door on a weak wall. A 900mm by 2,000mm door in 10mm glass weighs about 45kg. Hinges fixed into gypsum board or hollow block without backing can pull loose within months.

3. Measuring before the tiles go on. A 10mm tile on 5mm of adhesive narrows the opening by 30mm across two walls. Glass ordered from drawings or before tiling rarely fits.

4. Making the door too wide. A very wide door is heavy, hard to swing and needs oversized hinges. A narrower door beside a fixed panel, or a pair of doors, is lighter and easier to live with.

5. Choosing an inward-opening door. An inward door hits the shower head and valve and can trap the user. Doors should normally open outwards, with pivots reserved for wider openings.

6. Drilling or trimming after toughening. Toughened glass cannot be cut, drilled or notched once tempered. Every hinge cut-out and handle hole must be planned before fabrication.

AFTERCARE

Keeping Your Shower Glass Door Smooth and Watertight

Squeegee after every shower

Ten seconds removes water before minerals dry on the glass. It is the single most effective habit.

Check hinges every six months

Open and close the door and watch for sagging or a changed gap. Tighten loose fixings gently by hand and call us if the door drops.

Replace seals when they harden

Bottom sweeps and edge seals harden in Dubai’s heat. They are inexpensive to replace and stop small drips becoming water damage.

Tighten the handle gently

A loose handle on a heavy glass door should be re-tightened by hand, never with force, to avoid stressing the glass.

Ventilate the bathroom

Run the extractor during your shower and for 20 minutes afterwards to reduce mould in the silicone joints.

Re-seal every 3–5 years

Silicone discolours and loses adhesion. Our home maintenance and handyman teams can renew it in a single visit.

FAQS

Shower Glass Doors: Frequently Asked Questions

Supplied and installed, shower glass doors in Dubai typically cost AED 2,200–3,800 for a single hinged door, AED 3,200–5,500 for a hinged door with a fixed panel, and AED 3,800–7,500+ for pivot, bi-fold or double-door layouts in 12mm or low-iron glass. The exact price follows a free site survey.

A shower door should normally open outwards, because an inward-opening door hits the shower head and valve and can trap the user inside. Pivot doors can open both ways, which suits wider openings, and the hinge side is chosen to avoid the vanity and WC.

A hinged door swings on hinges fixed to a side wall or fixed panel, while a pivot door hangs on top and floor pivots set at the centre or offset and can open both ways. Pivot doors suit wider openings and heavier 10–12mm glass.

A bi-fold door is worth it when a vanity, WC or towel rail blocks a full swing, because it needs only about half the swing space of a hinged door. The trade-off is a narrower opening and hinge lines to clean.

A 10mm frameless door is typically up to about 900mm wide and a 12mm door up to about 1,000mm, depending on the hinges. For wider openings we use a narrower door beside a fixed panel, or a pair of double doors.

10mm toughened glass is the best all-round choice for frameless hinged shower doors in Dubai. Use 12mm for wide or pivot doors and tall glass, and keep 8mm for small doors, bathtub screens and framed or semi-frameless units.

A well-fitted hinged door contains most water, but it relies on seals and correct sizing rather than a frame. With a bottom sweep, edge seals and a floor that falls towards the drain, leaks are rare, and a small gap at the door is normal by design.

Yes. We remove the old door and frame, check the wall and tile condition, make good any fixing holes, and fit a new toughened glass door sized to the opening. Removal of the old unit is quoted separately, typically AED 150–350.

Installation takes half a day to one day per bathroom. Including the survey, quotation and 5–10 working days of fabrication and toughening, most projects go from first visit to a usable shower in 7–14 days, with 24 hours for silicone to cure.

SS304 stainless steel is fine for most homes inland. For apartments and villas near the sea, such as Palm Jumeirah, Dubai Marina, JBR and Bluewaters, we recommend marine-grade SS316, which resists pitting from salt-laden air far better.

Usually yes. A dropped door is most often a loose or worn hinge or a wall fixing that has moved. We re-fix or replace the hinge and re-align the door. A cracked toughened panel cannot be repaired, but we can make a matching replacement.
