Doors Made to Your Opening, Not Trimmed to Fit

A custom wooden door is manufactured to your exact opening and finish specification, rather than a standard-sized door trimmed or shimmed to roughly fit. This page covers new-build doors specifically — interior, decorative and main entrance doors made from scratch. If your existing door just needs a new finish rather than replacing entirely, our Door Wrapping service refinishes it in place, usually within a few hours, at a fraction of the cost.

One thing we’re upfront about: fire-rated doors are a certified product, not a finish choice. A genuine fire door is tested by an accredited laboratory and carries formal certification (commonly to BS 476 Part 22 or equivalent) confirming its rated performance under specific fire conditions. That testing happens at the manufacturing and certification stage, done by specialist accredited manufacturers — it isn’t something a general carpentry workshop can self-certify by building a door that looks similar. Where a project needs a certified fire-rated door, we specify and install a genuinely certified unit rather than claim a rating we can’t back with test documentation.

For everything else — standard interior doors, decorative doors, main entrance doors without a fire-rating requirement — we design, manufacture and install in-house, to your exact opening dimensions and finish.

No shimming or trimming a standard size. Manufactured for your specific door frame dimensions.

Honest About Fire Ratings

Certified fire doors are a tested, accredited product. We specify genuine certified units rather than claim a rating we can’t document.

Local Context

What Determines Whether a Custom Door Is Worth It

A standard off-the-shelf door works fine when your opening matches a standard size and you’re happy with a standard finish. Custom doors earn their cost when either of those isn’t true: an opening that’s slightly non-standard, a specific finish or panel detail you can’t buy ready-made, or an architectural feature like an arch or oversized main entrance that no catalogue door fits.

Wood species and core construction genuinely matter in Dubai’s climate. Kiln-dried solid timber, or an engineered core with a real wood veneer, resists the warping and swelling that cheaper, poorly dried timber shows under constant air conditioning and humidity fluctuation. This is worth asking about specifically, since a door that looks identical to a well-specified one on delivery day can start binding or gapping within a year if the core wasn’t properly prepared.

Main entrance doors carry additional considerations beyond interior doors: weather exposure, security hardware, and often an integrated intercom or smart lock system that needs to be worked around rather than treated as an afterthought once the door arrives.

A Custom Door Makes Sense When

  • Your opening is a non-standard size or shape
  • You want a specific finish, panel detail or wood species
  • The existing door is damaged beyond a simple repair
  • A main entrance door needs to work around intercom or smart lock hardware
  • You want doors throughout the home matched to one consistent finish
  • The opening doesn’t need a fire-rating requirement

How We Work

Our Five-Step Door Process

The same process for a single interior door or a full home matched in one scheme.

1

Opening Measure

We measure the exact opening, including frame condition and any hardware (intercom, smart lock) the design needs to work around.

2

Design & Species Selection

Panel style, wood species and finish confirmed and shown against samples before manufacturing.

3

Fixed Quote

A fixed price confirmed before any work starts, with material and finish specified in writing.

4

Workshop Manufacturing

Cut, joined and finished by our own craftsmen to the exact opening dimensions.

5

Installation & Hardware Fit

Fitted by our own team, with hinges, locks and any smart hardware installed and tested before handover.

Materials

Materials and Finishes

Specified in writing, chosen to hold up to Dubai’s climate.

Kiln-Dried Solid Timber

Properly dried real wood, resistant to the warping cheaper or improperly dried timber shows under constant AC exposure.

Engineered Core With Veneer

A stable engineered core with a real wood veneer face, a cost-effective alternative to solid timber with good dimensional stability.

Paint-Grade MDF

A cost-effective option for a painted, solid-colour finish rather than a visible wood grain.

Glass Panel Inserts

Full or partial glazing set into a wood frame, in clear, frosted or patterned options.

Material specification confirmed in writing on your quote before manufacturing begins.

Problems We Fix

Problems Custom Doors Solve

The recurring reasons clients choose a custom-built door.

An Opening That’s Non-Standard

A slightly off-size or architecturally unusual opening that standard doors don’t fit without a compromise.

A Door That’s Warped or Swollen

Poorly dried timber failing in Dubai’s climate, addressed with a properly specified core and species.

A Main Door That Doesn’t Match the Home’s Standard

An entrance door left in a generic finish after the rest of the property has been upgraded.

New Smart Hardware That Doesn’t Fit the Old Door

An intercom or smart lock upgrade that the existing door and frame weren’t designed to accommodate.

Mismatched Doors From Different Eras

Doors replaced individually over time in different finishes, resolved by matching the whole set.

A Design Detail You Can’t Buy Ready-Made

A specific panel style, glass detail or arched shape that no standard product range offers.

What Affects Wooden Door Cost in Dubai

Door pricing varies with size, wood species, panel complexity and hardware, with real variation between a simple flush interior door and a detailed main entrance piece.

Wood species. Paint-grade MDF costs less than engineered veneer, which costs less than solid teak or oak.

Panel complexity. A flat flush door costs less than a panelled, glazed or hand-detailed design.

Size and shape. A standard interior opening costs less than an oversized main entrance door or a custom arched shape.

Hardware. Standard hinges and a lock cost less than security-grade main door hardware with smart lock integration.

If your doors fit fine and just look dated, Door Wrapping solves that in hours. If the opening, condition or design is the actual problem, a custom-built door is the better investment.

Mistakes to Avoid With Custom Doors

A handful of avoidable mistakes account for most custom door problems we’re called in to fix.

Claiming a fire rating without certification. A door that looks like a fire door isn’t one. Only accredited-lab-tested, certified doors carry a genuine fire rating. Ask for the certification documentation directly if a rating is required.

Poorly dried or unspecified timber. Wood that wasn’t properly kiln-dried warps and swells in Dubai’s climate. Ask specifically what species and drying process is used.

Ordering without an accurate opening measure. A door ordered from approximate dimensions risks binding, gapping or an awkward installation.

Ignoring existing hardware on a main door. Intercoms and smart locks need to be worked around and correctly reinstalled, not treated as an afterthought once the door arrives.

Choosing on price per door alone. A significantly cheaper quote for the same described specification is often using a lower core quality or skipping proper drying.

Ask Every Quote These Six Questions

  • If a fire rating is needed, can you provide genuine test certification?
  • What wood species and core construction are being quoted?
  • Will the door be measured against my actual opening?
  • How is existing hardware (intercom, smart lock) worked around?
  • What hinges and lock hardware are specified?
  • Is design, manufacturing and installation all handled in-house?

Aftercare

Looking After a Wooden Door

Well-specified doors need minimal upkeep, but three habits protect the investment.

Adjust Hinges Early

A slightly sagging door caught early is a five-minute hinge adjustment, and a bigger repair if left to bind and stress the frame.

Reseal Main Door Finishes Periodically

Exterior-facing main doors benefit from a finish check every year or two, since weather exposure is the main outdoor wear factor.

Avoid Slamming

Repeated slamming stresses hinges and the frame over time. A soft-close hinge or door stop is a worthwhile addition.

Questions

Wooden Doors Dubai – FAQs

A custom door is manufactured from scratch to your exact opening and finish specification. Door wrapping refinishes an existing, structurally sound door in place with a new vinyl film, usually within a few hours. Our Door Wrapping page covers that faster, lower-cost refinishing option.

We specify and install genuinely certified fire-rated doors sourced from accredited manufacturers, since fire rating is a tested, accredited product attribute confirmed by laboratory certification, not something achieved by general carpentry construction alone. We won’t claim a fire rating we can’t back with genuine test documentation.

Cost depends on wood species, panel complexity, size and hardware, so a single figure would be misleading. Paint-grade MDF costs considerably less than solid teak or oak, and a flat flush door costs less than a detailed panelled or glazed design. Send your opening dimensions on WhatsApp for an indicative bracket.

Total project time is typically two to three weeks: a same-day quote after measuring the opening, one to two weeks for manufacturing, and two to four hours for installation of a typical interior door.

Kiln-dried solid timber such as teak or oak, or an engineered core with a real wood veneer, resist the warping and swelling that poorly dried or improperly specified timber shows under Dubai’s constant air conditioning and humidity fluctuation. Ask specifically about drying process and core construction.

Yes. Existing hardware is measured and accounted for at the design stage so the finished door works around it cleanly, and any smart hardware is reinstalled and tested as part of the installation.

Solid wood doors are genuine timber through the panel, offering the most authentic weight and grain. Engineered core doors use a stable manufactured core with a real wood veneer face, offering better dimensional stability at a lower cost, since solid timber is more prone to movement across a large panel.

Yes. Custom doors can be manufactured for arched openings, oversized main entrances or other architecturally unusual shapes that standard ready-made doors don’t accommodate.

Yes. If some doors in a home are being replaced while others stay, we can match wood species and finish so the new doors read as part of one consistent set rather than a visible mismatch.

A custom door is manufactured to your exact opening dimensions and chosen finish. A standard ready-made door comes in fixed sizes and finishes; it works well when your opening matches a standard size, but needs trimming or shimming otherwise, which can compromise fit and appearance.

Workmanship and hardware are covered against manufacturing and installation defects. Specific warranty terms are confirmed in writing as part of your quote before manufacturing begins.
