OVERVIEW

Space-Saving Doors That Glide Instead of Swing

Sliding shower glass doors in Dubai are the practical answer when a bathroom has no room for a door to swing. The glass glides along a top track instead, so nothing opens into the room, and the shower is closed completely against steam and spray. Vision Three designs, supplies and installs single, bypass and fixed-panel sliding shower glass doors for apartments, villas, hotels and offices across Dubai, cut to the millimetre once your tiles are finished.

Most Dubai apartment bathrooms are compact, and a sliding door is often the only enclosure that works around the vanity, WC and towel rail. The trade-offs are real, though: a sliding door opens only about half of its width, it has a track to keep clean, and cheap rollers can stick within a year or two. We choose the track, rollers, glass thickness and seals to suit the opening and the way you use the shower, and we check the floor fall and the wall plumb before any glass is ordered.

We have renovated bathrooms in Dubai since 2008, so we also correct tiling and waterproofing problems that would otherwise leave a track dirty or a door out of line. This page covers the sliding door types we install, sizing, hardware, real AED prices, mistakes to avoid and how we work. If your bathroom has room to swing a door, compare our hinged, pivot and bi-fold shower glass doors, or see the full range in our overview of shower glass enclosures in Dubai.

No swing space needed

A sliding door stays within the footprint of the shower, so it works beside a vanity, WC or towel rail.

Rollers chosen for the load

We specify rollers and tracks by glass weight and door width, and fit soft-close where it suits the door.

Toughened and marked

Every panel carries a visible safety mark, and roller and handle holes are made before toughening, never after.

SLIDING DOOR TYPES

Sliding Shower Door Types We Install in Dubai

Each sliding layout fits a different opening. These are the six we fit most often and what each is best at.

Single Sliding Door

One sliding door beside a fixed panel in a recess of about 1,000mm to 1,400mm. The simplest and most economical sliding layout.

Bypass (Double) Sliding Doors

Two doors that pass each other on a double track, for recesses of about 1,200mm to 1,800mm. Either side can be used to enter.

Sliding Door With Fixed Panel

A sliding leaf with a fixed panel at one or both ends. The panel adds splash protection and keeps the moving door light.

Corner Sliding Enclosure

Two sliding doors set at a right angle for a corner shower, giving a wide opening without any swing.

Bathtub Sliding Screen

Sliding glass panels on the bath rim, replacing a curtain over a combined bath and shower while keeping the tub usable.

Semi-Frameless Sliding Door

Thin framed edges on the moving door and a minimal top track, balancing a clean look with a lower price than fully frameless.

Not sure a sliding door is right?

If there is room, a hinged or pivot shower glass door gives a fuller opening, and a doorless walk-in shower glass enclosure needs no door at all. For a fixed screen, see our shower glass partition page.

WHY VISION THREE

Why Dubai Homeowners Trust Us With Sliding Shower Doors

Track and wall checked first

We test the floor level and wall plumb, because a track on an uneven curb makes a door bind or drift.

Measured after tiling, never before

Final measurements are taken on finished surfaces with a laser level, to within 1mm, so the door runs true.

Rollers rated to the weight

Roller type and track strength are chosen from the actual glass weight and door width.

Silicone that suits natural stone

Neutral-cure, anti-fungal sanitary silicone as standard, so marble and stone are never stained.

Renovation team behind the glass

We can correct floor falls and tiling through our bathroom tiling and MEP teams before the door goes in.

Plain-English quotations

Glass, thickness, track finish, coating and installation are itemised so you can compare quotes like for like.

HOW IT WORKS

Our 5-Step Sliding Shower Door Installation Process

1

Free Site Survey

We check wall plumb and floor fall with a laser level and measure the recess, so the track and door widths are planned before design.

2

Design & Written Quote

You choose the layout, glass thickness, clear or low-iron, handle and track finish. An itemised quotation follows, usually within 24 hours.

3

Final Measure & Fabrication

Once tiles and grout are done we take final measurements. Glass is cut, edge-polished, drilled for rollers and handles, then toughened. Typically 5–10 working days.

4

Installation

We fix the top track and wall channels, hang the doors on their rollers and adjust the alignment so they glide smoothly. Most are fitted in half to one day.

5

Seal, Test & Handover

Joints are sealed with sanitary silicone and left to cure for 24 hours. We water-test the enclosure, check the door action and show you how to clean the track.

SIZING GUIDE

What Size Sliding Shower Door Do You Need?

Sliding doors open only part of their width, so the recess size decides the layout. The figures below are typical working guidance, and we confirm every opening on site.

Recess widthLayoutClear opening when openBest for

The main limit of a sliding door is the opening: a bypass layout lets you use only one side at a time, so a very narrow recess can feel tight. If the opening matters more than the footprint, a hinged door or a walk-in screen gives easier entry.

GLASS, TRACK & HARDWARE

Choosing Door Glass, Tracks, Rollers and Seals

Rollers, tracks and seals decide how a sliding door feels for years. For the heaviest glass and cleanest look, see our frameless shower glass page.

6mm toughened

Lightweight framed sliding doors and bath screens. The most economical option for compact bathrooms.

8mm toughened

Our default for semi-frameless and framed sliders. A good balance of strength, weight and cost.

10mm toughened

Used on heavy-duty frameless-style sliding systems and wide doors. Needs a stronger track and rollers.

Rollers and soft-close

Stainless or sealed-bearing rollers glide quietly; soft-close dampers stop the door gently at each end.

Top track and bottom guide

A rigid top track carries the door; a small floor guide keeps it from swinging, with a low profile that is easier to clean.

Seals and easy-clean coating

Brush seals and vertical edge seals stop spray; a hydrophobic coating keeps the glass clear and the track cleaner.

Tracks, handles and frames come in polished chrome, brushed nickel, matte black, brushed gold and gunmetal. We specify SS304 stainless steel as standard and marine-grade SS316 for coastal homes on Palm Jumeirah, Dubai Marina, JBR, Emaar Beachfront and Bluewaters Island, where salt-laden air can corrode lower-grade rollers and tracks. Low-iron glass removes the green edge tint of standard glass and typically adds 20–30% to the glass cost. We favour rollers and tracks from established manufacturers and avoid the cheapest imports, which are the usual cause of sticking doors.

PROBLEMS WE SOLVE

Common Sliding Shower Door Problems in Dubai Bathrooms

Door sticking or jumping the track

Worn or cheap rollers, or a dirty track. We clean, adjust or replace the rollers and re-align the door.

Door drifting open or closed

An out-of-level track or curb. We re-level the track or correct the base so the door stays where you leave it.

Water escaping at the door

Worn brush seals or gaps at the edges. We replace the seals and re-set the door clearances.

Noisy or rough sliding

Dry or damaged rollers and grit in the track. We clean the track and replace the rollers.

Black mould in the track and silicone

Old silicone and trapped water in the track. We clean and dry the track and re-seal with anti-fungal silicone.

Cracked or chipped door glass

Toughened glass cannot be repaired once damaged, so we template, re-make and replace the door panel.

COST GUIDE 2026

How Much Do Sliding Shower Glass Doors Cost in Dubai?

Supplied and installed, sliding shower glass doors in Dubai typically cost from AED 2,200 for a framed single slider to AED 6,500 or more for a wide bypass or corner system in 10mm or low-iron glass. A semi-frameless bypass door in 8mm glass usually lands between AED 2,800 and AED 3,800.

Price follows five things: the width of the opening, glass thickness, clear versus low-iron or decorative glass, the quality of the track and rollers, and the hardware finish. Matte black and brushed gold cost more than chrome, and SS316 costs more than SS304.

Our quotes include survey, fabrication, delivery, installation, silicone sealing and removal of packaging. Removing an existing screen or door is quoted separately, typically AED 150–350.

Sliding vs Hinged vs Walk-In Shower Enclosures

What is the difference between a sliding and a hinged shower door? A sliding door glides on a top track and needs no swing space, while a hinged door swings on hinges and needs clear floor space to open. Sliding doors suit compact bathrooms but open only part of the width; hinged doors give the fullest entry. Read more on our shower glass doors page.

AVOID COSTLY ERRORS

6 Sliding Shower Door Mistakes We See in Dubai Bathrooms

1. Buying the cheapest roller system. Low-grade rollers wear, stick and jump the track within a year or two. The roller and track are the parts you use every day, so they are where quality matters most.

2. Installing on an uneven curb. A track on a curb that is out of level makes the door drift open or closed. The base must be level, or the track packed and sealed correctly.

3. Measuring before the tiles go on. A 10mm tile on 5mm of adhesive narrows the opening by 30mm across two walls. Glass ordered before tiling rarely fits.

4. Choosing a slider for a very narrow recess. In a recess under about 900mm a bypass door leaves almost no opening. A hinged door or a fixed screen can give easier entry.

5. Forgetting the track needs cleaning. Soap scum and hair collect in the bottom track. Choose a low-profile track and plan to wipe it weekly, or a door with a minimal bottom guide.

6. Drilling or trimming after toughening. Toughened glass cannot be cut, drilled or notched once tempered. Every roller and handle hole must be planned before fabrication.

AFTERCARE

Keeping Your Sliding Shower Door Smooth and Watertight

Wipe the track weekly

A quick wipe of the bottom track removes soap scum and hair before it jams the rollers.

Squeegee after every shower

Ten seconds removes water before minerals dry on the glass and in the track.

Check the rollers every six months

Slide the door slowly and listen for roughness. Early adjustment or replacement keeps the door running smoothly.

Replace seals when they harden

Brush and edge seals harden in Dubai’s heat. They are inexpensive to replace and stop small drips becoming water damage.

Ventilate the bathroom

Run the extractor during your shower and for 20 minutes afterwards to reduce mould in the silicone and track.

Re-seal every 3–5 years

Silicone discolours and loses adhesion. Our home maintenance and handyman teams can renew it in a single visit.

FAQS

Sliding Shower Glass Doors: Frequently Asked Questions

Supplied and installed, sliding shower glass doors in Dubai typically cost AED 2,200–3,000 for a framed single slider, AED 2,800–3,800 for a semi-frameless bypass door, and AED 3,800–6,500+ for wide, corner or premium systems in 10mm or low-iron glass. The exact price follows a free site survey.

A sliding shower door glides along a top track and needs no swing space, while a hinged door swings on hinges and needs clear floor space to open. Sliding doors suit compact bathrooms but open only part of the width; hinged doors give the fullest entry.

Yes. A sliding shower door is usually the best choice for a small Dubai bathroom because it needs no swing space and does not hit the vanity, WC or towel rail. The trade-off is an opening of only about half the door width.

A bypass sliding system typically suits recesses from about 1,200mm to 1,800mm, and larger with a side panel. Each leaf is usually limited to about 900mm so the glass and rollers stay manageable.

8mm toughened glass is the best all-round choice for semi-frameless sliding doors in Dubai. Use 6mm for light framed doors and bath screens, and 10mm for heavy-duty frameless-style systems and wide doors.

A well-fitted sliding door contains most spray, but a small amount of water can reach the track because the doors overlap rather than seal. Brush seals, a level track and a floor that falls towards the drain keep leaks rare.

Wipe the bottom track weekly with a soft cloth and a mild non-acid cleaner, using an old toothbrush for the corners. A low-profile track and a squeegee after each shower make this much quicker.

A sticking sliding door is usually caused by worn or cheap rollers, a dirty track, or a track that is out of level. We clean, adjust or replace the rollers and re-align the door, which normally takes less than an hour.

Installation takes half a day to one day per bathroom. Including the survey, quotation and 5–10 working days of fabrication and toughening, most projects go from first visit to a usable shower in 7–14 days, with 24 hours for silicone to cure.

Yes. We remove the old screen and track, make good the tiles and fixing holes, and fit a new toughened glass sliding door sized to the opening. Removal of the old unit is quoted separately, typically AED 150–350.

SS304 stainless steel is fine for most homes inland. For apartments and villas near the sea, such as Palm Jumeirah, Dubai Marina, JBR and Bluewaters, we recommend marine-grade SS316 tracks and rollers, which resist corrosion from salt-laden air far better.
