OVERVIEW

Open, Doorless Showers That Still Keep the Spray In

Walk-in shower glass enclosures in Dubai replace the door with a clean, fixed glass screen, so you simply step in. With no door, no track and very little hardware, they give the most open, easiest-to-clean shower of any enclosure type. Vision Three designs, supplies and installs walk-in shower glass enclosures for apartments, villas, hotels and offices across Dubai, in 8mm, 10mm and 12mm toughened glass, cut to the millimetre once your tiles are finished.

A walk-in works only when the design is right. Without a door, the screen has to be wide enough and placed correctly to stop the spray reaching the rest of the bathroom, and the floor must fall to the drain so water does not escape. The common failures are a screen that is too narrow for the shower head, a floor that falls the wrong way, and a shower position that sprays straight at the opening. We work out screen width, height, shower head position and floor fall on site, before any glass is ordered.

We have renovated bathrooms in Dubai since 2008, so we also check waterproofing, tile falls and drainage that a walk-in depends on. This page covers the walk-in layouts we install, sizing, hardware, real AED prices, mistakes to avoid and how we work. If you want a door, compare our hinged, pivot and bi-fold shower glass doors or sliding shower glass doors, or see the full range in our overview of shower glass enclosures in Dubai.

Sized to the spray zone

We set screen width and shower head position together so water stays in the shower.

Drainage checked first

We confirm the floor falls 1:50 to 1:80 towards the drain, because a doorless shower relies on it.

Toughened and marked

Every panel carries a visible safety mark, and fixing holes are made before toughening, never after.

WALK-IN LAYOUTS

Walk-In Shower Glass Layouts We Install in Dubai

Each walk-in layout controls spray differently. These are the six we fit most often and what each is best at.

Single Fixed Screen

One fixed glass panel, usually 900mm to 1,200mm wide, fixed to the wall and floor beside the shower head. The simplest and most economical walk-in.

Screen With Return Panel

A main screen with a short return at the end, which blocks spray from the side and keeps the opening clear.

L-Shaped Walk-In

Two panels meeting at a right angle for a corner shower, giving good spray control and a wide, open entry.

Wet Room Screen

A full-height or near-full-height screen in a fully tiled, waterproofed room with a floor-level drain. The most open wet-room look.

Ceiling-Fixed Screen

A screen braced to the ceiling instead of the wall, for a floating look and extra stiffness on tall, wide panels.

Bathtub Walk-In Screen

A fixed screen on the bath rim or wall, replacing a curtain while keeping the bath fully accessible.

Prefer a door or a rail?

For a fully enclosed shower, see our shower glass doors or sliding shower glass doors. For fixed glass in other layouts, see our shower glass partition and frameless shower glass pages.

WHY VISION THREE

Why Dubai Homeowners Trust Us With Walk-In Shower Screens

We design the spray zone

Screen width and shower head position are planned together, not left to chance.

Measured after tiling, never before

Final measurements are taken on finished surfaces with a laser level, to within 1mm, so the screen fits cleanly.

Falls and drainage checked

We test the floor fall towards the drain before the glass is made, because a walk-in depends on it.

Silicone that suits natural stone

Neutral-cure, anti-fungal sanitary silicone as standard, so marble and stone are never stained.

Renovation team behind the glass

We can correct falls and waterproofing through our bathroom tiling and MEP teams before the glass goes in.

HOW IT WORKS

Our 5-Step Walk-In Shower Glass Installation Process

1

Free Site Survey

We check wall plumb and floor fall with a laser level, locate the drain and shower head, and plan the screen position.

2

Design & Written Quote

You choose the layout, glass thickness, clear or low-iron, and hardware finish. An itemised quotation follows, usually within 24 hours.

3

Final Measure & Fabrication

Once tiles and grout are done we take final measurements. Glass is cut, edge-polished, drilled and toughened. Typically 5–10 working days.

4

Installation

We fix the wall channel or clamps and any support bar, lift the screen into place and level it. Most walk-ins are fitted in half a day.

5

Seal, Test & Handover

Joints are sealed with sanitary silicone and left to cure for 24 hours. We water-test the shower, check the spray and show you the cleaning routine.

SIZING GUIDE

How Wide Should a Walk-In Shower Screen Be?

The screen has to be wide enough to catch the spray from the shower head. The figures below are typical working guidance, and we confirm every screen on site against your shower position.

Up to 900mm wideSingle fixed screen700–900mmCompact apartment showers

As a rule, point the shower head away from the opening and keep a clear entry of at least 600mm. A wider screen is more forgiving, and a short return panel at the open end is the cheapest way to cut stray spray.

GLASS, FIXINGS & DRAINAGE

Choosing Walk-In Glass, Fixings, Drains and Seals

A walk-in has little hardware, so the glass, fixings and drainage matter more. For the fully frameless look, see our frameless shower glass page.

8mm toughened

Smaller screens and bathtub screens up to about 800mm wide. Strong and cost-efficient.

10mm toughened

Our default for walk-in screens up to about 1,200mm wide. A solid, reassuring feel.

12mm toughened

Tall, wide or wet-room screens and ceiling-fixed panels. The most substantial option.

Wall channels and clamps

Slim channels or clamps hold the glass to the wall and floor with almost no visible metal.

Support bars

A slim bar from glass to wall adds stiffness to wide screens and is often the difference between rattle and rock-solid.

Drains and easy-clean coating

A linear or point drain with a correct floor fall keeps water in, and a hydrophobic coating keeps the glass clear.

Clamps, channels and support bars come in polished chrome, brushed nickel, matte black, brushed gold and gunmetal. We specify SS304 stainless steel as standard and marine-grade SS316 for coastal homes on Palm Jumeirah, Dubai Marina, JBR, Emaar Beachfront and Bluewaters Island, where salt-laden air can pit lower-grade fittings. A floor fall of about 1:50 to 1:80 towards the drain is the working range we aim for in a walk-in. Low-iron glass removes the green edge tint of standard glass and typically adds 20–30% to the glass cost.

Hotels & serviced apartments

Repeatable walk-in specifications across many rooms, with minimal hardware and a quick turnaround per bathroom.

Offices, gyms & spas

Open, easy-clean walk-in screens for changing rooms and spa areas, with resistance to constant humidity.

PROBLEMS WE SOLVE

Common Walk-In Shower Problems in Dubai Bathrooms

Water spraying onto the bathroom floor

A screen that is too narrow or a shower head aimed at the opening. We add a return panel or a wider screen and re-aim the spray.

Water pooling in the shower

A floor that falls the wrong way or a blocked drain. We correct the fall or clear the drain before sealing the glass.

Screen rattling or moving

Loose clamps or no support bar. We re-fix with correct hardware and add a support bar where needed.

Black mould in the silicone

Old silicone that was never anti-fungal grade. We cut it out completely, clean and dry the joint, then re-seal.

Limescale on the glass

Hard water spots on the screen. We clean and apply an easy-clean coating to make future cleaning faster.

Cracked or chipped glass

Toughened glass cannot be repaired once damaged, so we template, re-make and replace the panel.

COST GUIDE 2026

How Much Do Walk-In Shower Glass Enclosures Cost in Dubai?

Supplied and installed, walk-in shower glass enclosures in Dubai typically cost from AED 1,400 for a single fixed 8mm screen to AED 4,500 or more for a wide wet-room or ceiling-fixed screen in 12mm or low-iron glass. A 10mm screen with a return panel usually lands between AED 2,400 and AED 3,600.

Price follows five things: the glass area in square metres, the thickness, clear versus low-iron or decorative glass, the number of panels and fixings, and the hardware finish. Matte black and brushed gold cost more than chrome, and SS316 costs more than SS304.

Our quotes include survey, fabrication, delivery, installation, silicone sealing and removal of packaging. Removing an existing door or screen is quoted separately, typically AED 150–350.

COMPARE

Walk-In vs Doored Shower Enclosures

What is the difference between a walk-in and a doored shower enclosure? A walk-in uses a fixed glass screen with an open entry, while a doored enclosure closes the shower completely with a hinged or sliding door. Walk-ins are easier to clean and enter; doored enclosures contain heat and spray better. Read more on our shower glass doors page.

AVOID COSTLY ERRORS

6 Walk-In Shower Mistakes We See in Dubai Bathrooms

1. Making the screen too narrow. A screen narrower than the spray zone lets water reach the bathroom floor. Size the screen to the shower head position, and add a return panel if in doubt.

2. Pointing the shower head at the opening. Even a good screen cannot stop a jet aimed at the entry. Plan the shower head to face the glass or the wall, away from the open end.

3. Ignoring the floor fall. A doorless shower relies on the floor falling about 1:50 to 1:80 towards the drain. A flat or reversed fall sends water out of the shower.

4. Measuring before the tiles go on. A 10mm tile on 5mm of adhesive narrows the opening by 30mm across two walls. Glass ordered before tiling rarely fits.

5. Skipping the support bar. A wide, unsupported 10mm screen can rattle or flex. A slim bar from glass to wall costs little and keeps it solid.

6. Drilling or trimming after toughening. Toughened glass cannot be cut, drilled or notched once tempered. Every fixing hole must be planned before fabrication.

AFTERCARE

Keeping Your Walk-In Shower Glass Clear and Watertight

Squeegee after every shower

Ten seconds removes water before minerals dry on the glass. It is the single most effective habit.

Keep the drain clear

Clear hair from the drain regularly so water never backs up beyond the shower area.

Check clamps every six months

Look for loose clamps or a screen that moves, and tighten gently by hand. Call us if the glass shifts.

Wipe the silicone joints

Wipe the joints dry now and then to slow mould, and look for any cracks or gaps.

Ventilate the bathroom

Run the extractor during your shower and for 20 minutes afterwards, as an open walk-in lets more steam into the room.

Re-seal every 3–5 years

Silicone discolours and loses adhesion. Our home maintenance and handyman teams can renew it in a single visit.

FAQS

Walk-In Shower Glass Enclosures: Frequently Asked Questions

Supplied and installed, walk-in shower glass enclosures in Dubai typically cost AED 1,400–2,400 for a single fixed screen, AED 2,400–3,600 for a screen with a return or L-shape, and AED 3,600–4,500+ for wet-room or premium screens in 12mm or low-iron glass. The exact price follows a free site survey.

A walk-in shower enclosure is a shower with a fixed glass screen and no door, so you step in through an open entry. It gives the most open, easiest-to-clean shower, but it needs enough space and the correct floor fall to keep water inside.

A walk-in shower screen is typically 700mm to 1,200mm wide for a standard shower, and should be wide enough to catch the spray from the shower head. A short return panel of 300–400mm at the open end cuts stray spray further.

They can if badly designed. A screen that is too narrow, a shower head aimed at the opening, or a floor that falls the wrong way sends water out. With the right screen width, a return panel and a floor fall of about 1:50 to 1:80, splashing is minimal.

10mm toughened glass is the best all-round choice for walk-in screens up to about 1,200mm wide. Use 12mm for tall, wide or wet-room screens and ceiling-fixed panels, and 8mm for small screens and bathtub screens.

For wide screens a support bar is strongly recommended. A slim bar from the glass to the wall adds stiffness and stops rattling. Narrow screens fixed with full-length channels may not need one.

A walk-in can suit a small bathroom because it has no door swing and makes the room feel larger. However, a very compact shower can get wet outside the screen, so a sliding door may be better where space is very tight.

A walk-in has a glass screen and usually a shower tray or raised area, while a wet room is fully waterproofed with a floor-level drain and often only a single screen. Both are doorless; a wet room is the more open of the two.

Installation takes about half a day per bathroom. Including the survey, quotation and 5–10 working days of fabrication and toughening, most projects go from first visit to a usable shower in 7–14 days, with 24 hours for silicone to cure.

Yes, in most cases. We remove the old door or screen, check the floor fall, drain and tiles, make good the fixing holes and fit a new toughened glass screen. Removal of the old unit is quoted separately, typically AED 150–350.

SS304 stainless steel is fine for most homes inland. For apartments and villas near the sea, such as Palm Jumeirah, Dubai Marina, JBR and Bluewaters, we recommend marine-grade SS316 clamps and channels, which resist pitting from salt-laden air far better.
